Learn how to troubleshoot and fix the water spray function on your RC monster truck. Step-by-step diagnosis from symptom to repair or replacement.

Quick answer

If your RC monster truck's spray function fails, start by checking the water tank for clogs and the pump for power. Most issues are fixable at home without a replacement.

Common reasons the spray stops working

The water spray feature on RC monster trucks like the Bezgar 1:20 Camo Dinosaur model adds fun but can fail for a few simple reasons. The most frequent causes are a clogged nozzle, an empty or leaking water tank, or a disconnected pump wire. Less common but possible: the pump motor burns out after extended dry running.

Before you assume the truck is broken, check whether the spray worked when the truck was new. If it never worked, the defect may be present from the factory. If it stopped after working, the issue is likely user-serviceable.

Diagnosis steps

Symptom: The RC monster truck drives normally, but pressing the spray button produces no water or only a weak dribble.
Likely cause: Clogged spray nozzle or air in the water line. The water tank may also be empty or the pump intake blocked by debris.
Corrective action: Remove the water tank and flush it with clean water. Use a pin or compressed air to clear the nozzle. Reconnect the tank and prime the pump by briefly running it upside down. If still no spray, check that the pump wires are firmly connected to the battery terminal. If the pump runs but no water comes out, the issue is likely a clog. If the pump is silent, the problem is electrical.
Stop or choose another option: If the pump still does not operate after checking connections and the truck is under warranty, contact Bezgar support for a replacement. If out of warranty, consider replacing the pump module (usually a low-cost part) or using the truck without the spray feature.
